Peak summer, and the city is delivering on all fronts.
This week is packed with outdoor cinema, live concerts, markets, and performances — the kind of schedule that makes a New York summer feel like it's actually working.
Sunday is a particularly good day for it. If you want to get your dog in or on the water, there's a pool party at Chelsea Waterside and a kayak and paddleboard session on the Hudson — both on Sunday afternoon.
And if you need a break from summer, or just want to do it a little differently, there's a Christmas in July festival in Jersey City. Santa photos, cookie decorating, food trucks, and a pet-friendly brewery. All the good parts of December, none of the cold.

Wednesday July 22nd

MusicTalks brings a sunset string performance of The Four Seasons to the West 66th Street entrance — dogs explicitly part of the invitation, blankets and picnics encouraged. Moves indoors if weather doesn't cooperate.

A new dog-themed craft each week on Bryant Park's upper terrace — all materials provided, no registration, dogs welcome on the gravel and bluestone surround. A midday hour that fits into almost any schedule.

Email a photo of your dog ahead of time and Michele Cahill pre-sketches the outline — you arrive, order a drink, and trace and watercolor your way through a Friday evening. The result goes on the wall; the dog goes home happy.

A hands-on workshop covering CPR, choking response, and wound care — led by Waggytail Rescue's founder using realistic canine CPR dummies. Everyone leaves with a take-home first aid kit; the kind of Tuesday evening that actually pays off.

NYC Summer Resource
Ever wished you could give your dog a real country summer — without driving two hours out of the city?
Prospect Park has a Dog Beach. It's a designated swimming area on the Long Meadow lake where dogs can go off-leash and get in the water during early morning and late evening hours. It's not a sandy shore, but it's the closest thing to a proper summer swim your dog is going to find in Brooklyn — and for a city dog, it's the real thing.
Off-leash hours are 6:00–9:00 am and 9:00 pm–1:00 am. Dogs must be leashed at all other times in the park.
Outdoor cinema, live concerts, a pool party, a Christmas in July festival, and a dog beach in Brooklyn. Your dog has a full week ahead — get out there and pick one.
