Hey!

This is a perfect summer week to get out and enjoy the city with your dog.

Some of this week's options are built around dogs, but plenty of them are just great excuses to get your humans together — with your dog as the star of the show.

Tonight there's The Great Muppet Caper at Pier I. Central Park has a Disney sing-along with a string quartet. Thursday brings Mean Girls at Rooftop Cinema and a Taylor Swift tribute concert at sunset. And if comedy is more your thing, Must Love Dogs is back at Boris & Horton on Friday.

Sunday is a perfect summer day on its own. The Great Ice Cream Fair is happening in Prospect Park, and you can follow it up with Bark in the Park at the Brooklyn Cyclones.

One thing to flag: Boris & Horton is running World Cup matches all week, not on one set day. Here's the full schedule.

Wednesday July 15th

Pier I Picture Show: The Great Muppet Caper, on Wed, 15 Jul, 20:30–22:30

A free outdoor screening on Pier I's waterfront pathways at dusk — dogs welcome in designated seating areas, Hudson River breeze included. A classic on the right kind of summer night.

Disney Live: Favorite Songs Picnic Concert @ Central Park, on Wed, 15 Jul, 19:00–20:00

An outdoor sunset sing-along on the Central Park West lawn with Disney favorites — bring a blanket, a picnic, and your dog. The kind of Wednesday evening that gets away from you in the best way.

UES Girls Happy Hour @ Avoca, on Wed, 15 Jul, 19:00–22:00

A summer happy hour on Avoca's Upper East Side patio organized by the UES Girls community — ticket covers snacks, the rest takes care of itself. Worth knowing about if your social life and your neighborhood haven't fully overlapped yet.

Dog Crafts @ Bryant Park Art Cart, on Wed, 15 Jul, 11:30–13:30

A new dog-themed craft each week on Bryant Park's upper terrace — all materials provided, no registration needed, leashed dogs welcome throughout. A midday outing that fits cleanly into a workday.

Thursday July 16th

Mean Girls "Wooftop" @ Rooftop Cinema Club, on Thu, 16 Jul, 17:00–19:30

Rooftop Cinema Club's dog-friendly series screens Mean Girls on the Midtown rooftop — dogs are part of the format, not an afterthought. Doors open at 16:00 for early settling in.

Tribute to Taylor Swift String Quartet Picnic Concert @ Central Park, on Thu, 16 Jul, 19:30–20:30

A string quartet plays Taylor Swift arrangements at sunset near the West 66th Street entrance — bring a blanket, a picnic, and your dog, and email in song requests beforehand. A Thursday evening that earns its ticket price.

Puppy Party @ JustFoodForDogs, on Thu, 16 Jul, 18:30–19:30

A free weekly session in a sanitized Upper West Side space for puppies working through the early vaccine window — experienced trainers run the room, and the environment is controlled enough to actually build social skills. Email RSVP required.

Dog-Friendly Trivia Night @ Boris & Horton, on Thu, 16 Jul, 18:30–20:30

Weekly trivia at NYC's original dog café — teams compete for a bar tab while dogs work the off-leash lounge between rounds. One of those recurring nights that earns its spot on the calendar every week.

Friday July 17th

Must Love Dogs and Comedy @ Boris & Horton, on Fri, 17 Jul, 19:00–21:00

A monthly dog-friendly stand-up show at the East Village café — top-tier comedians, dogs in the room, and the After Dark menu running throughout. The audience that shows up for this one tends to make the room.

Furry Fridays @ AKC Museum of the Dog, on Fri, 17 Jul, 11:00–18:00

Leashed, well-socialized dogs are welcome inside the museum during regular Friday hours — a full day of gallery access rather than a single narrow window. Time slots must be reserved in advance.

There's No Place Like Bond Vet — Adoption Event, on Fri, 17 Jul, 16:00–18:00

Animal Haven brings adoptable animals to Bond Vet's Lower East Side clinic for a drop-in pop-up — meet the animals, grab some treats, and see what happens. No commitment required to walk in.

Sip & Paint a Pet Portrait @ Barking Dog UES, on Fri, 17 Jul, 17:30–19:30

Send a photo of your dog ahead of time and Michele Cahill pre-sketches the outline — you show up, order dinner, and paint while your dog settles in beside the table. A Friday that produces something worth keeping.

Saturday July 18th

NYRR Open Run: Dog Days of Summer @ Inwood Hill Park, on Sat, 18 Jul, 08:45–10:30

A free community 5K run/walk through Inwood Hill Park's ice-age caves, ridges, and valleys — dogs welcome to run the whole route alongside. One of the more interesting terrains on the Manhattan calendar.

Paint With Pups @ Le Doggie Cool, on Sat, 18 Jul, 13:00–15:00

A paint-and-sip in Williamsburg where the dogs are in the room with you, not waiting outside — full café menu available while you work on your canvas. The models are already there.

World Cup Weekend @ Le Doggie Cool, on Sat, 18 Jul & Sun, 19 Jul, 12:00–20:00

Le Doggie Cool's 98-inch screen runs World Cup matches across the whole weekend — dogs welcome throughout the café, frozen drinks on hand. A two-day plan that doesn't require any further planning.

Downward Dog Yoga with Pups @ Bideawee, on Sat, 18 Jul, 11:00–12:00

An outdoor yoga session in Bideawee's Chelsea courtyard with shelter dogs brought out to join — a warm, low-pressure atmosphere where the dogs are the best part of the class. Free with RSVP.

Adopt, Love and Repeat @ New York Dog Spa and Hotel, on Sat, 18 Jul, 12:00–14:00

A walk-in adoption pop-up in a calm, hotel-style setting — each dog gets to show their personality outside a shelter environment, which tells you more than a kennel visit ever could. No appointment needed.

Sunday July 12th

The Great Ice Cream Fair @ Prospect Park, on Sun, 19 Jul, 11:00–18:00

An annual full-day ice cream social at Breeze Hill with guest vendors, a market, and dogs welcome throughout the outdoor space. The best possible reason to be in Prospect Park on a July Sunday.

Bark in the Park @ Maimonides Park, on Sun, 19 Jul, arrive by 13:00

Dogs join their owners in designated sections for a Cyclones afternoon game — pre-game pup parade 45 minutes before first pitch, so arriving early is worth it. Tickets run $17–27 depending on source.

Pup Luau Pawty @ Forest Park Barking Lot, on Sun, 19 Jul, 10:00–14:00

A luau-themed summer dog party in Kew Gardens' Forest Park dog run — vendors, raffles, games, and treats across a full morning into afternoon. A Queens Sunday with a good excuse to cross the borough.

Paddle Pups Kayak Tour @ Urban Paddle, on Sun, 19 Jul, 11:00–12:00

A guided kayak tour of New York Harbor with your dog on board — PFDs provided, pups paddle free, and 10% of proceeds go to a local shelter. A Sunday morning on the water that earns the commute to Jersey City.
