Hey!
If you're sticking around the city this holiday weekend, your dog is in good hands.
There's something about a holiday weekend that makes New York feel like a snow day in summer. Quieter, slower, easier. That doesn't mean less to do.
One thing to flag: Boris & Horton is running World Cup matches all week, not on one set day. Here's the full schedule.
This is also a great week to take your dog to the park for something a little different. Movies under the stars, picnic concerts, park cleanups, Smorgasburg on Sunday, free outdoor yoga on Monday, and Bark in the Park at the Cyclones game on Tuesday.
Not a park person? There are happy hours, street festivals, and plenty of indoor options too.

Wednesday July 1st

Movies Under the Stars: Pelé (2016) @ James J. Walker Park, on Wed, 1 Jul, 20:20
A free outdoor screening of Pelé: Birth of a Legend as part of NYC Parks' summer movie series — bring a blanket and your leashed dog. Lawn seating fills up, so early arrival is worth it.

Art Cart Workshop: 4th of July Dog Craft @ Bryant Park Art Cart, on Wed, 1 Jul, 11:30–13:30
AKC Museum educators mark America's 250th Anniversary with a special canine-inspired craft on the upper terrace — non-toxic materials provided, dogs welcome to lounge on the gravel. A patriotic twist on the usual weekly session.

American Pie: Classical to Pop Picnic Concert @ Central Park, on Wed, 1 Jul, 19:30–20:30
Cellist Elad Kabilio leads a sunset picnic concert tracing American music from classical to pop at West 66th and Central Park West. Explicitly dog-friendly; bring blankets, snacks, and something to drink.
Thursday July 2nd

Trainer-Led Puppy Socialization @ JustFoodForDogs, on Thu, 2 Jul, 18:30–19:30
A free recurring session in a sanitized indoor space for puppies still completing vaccinations — off-leash play under professional supervision, with no exposure risk from the outside world. A controlled, structured way to start building confidence.

Happy Hour @ 902 Brewing Co., on Thu, 2 Jul, 15:00–18:00
A Jersey City brewery with $5 pints and a relaxed setup for your dog to settle in beside you. A short PATH ride for a low-key weekday hour.

It's My Park: Hunter's Point South, on Thu, 2 Jul, 10:00–12:00
A morning of raking, weeding, and mulching at this waterfront LIC park with Hunters Point Parks Conservancy — leashed, non-reactive dogs welcome to tag along. A different kind of dog-friendly outing, with something to show for it after.
Friday July 3rd

Suns Out, Buns Out @ Château Le Woof, on Fri, 3 Jul, 15:00–sunset
An afternoon-into-sunset social at the Astoria dog café — easygoing, open-ended, and built for lingering. A good one to wander into without much of a plan.

The Wandering Shuckers @ Château Le Woof, on Fri, 3 Jul, 16:00
NYC's roving raw bar pulls into the Astoria dog café for one afternoon — fresh-shucked oysters from a mobile setup that normally turns up at weddings, festivals, and one-night-only bar takeovals across the city. A reason to make Friday happy hour count for more than usual.

Sip & Paint a Pet Portrait @ Barking Dog UES, on Fri, 3 Jul, 17:30–19:30
Email a photo of your dog ahead of time and Michele Cahill pre-sketches the outline — you arrive ready to trace and paint while your dog lounges beside the table. $65, RSVP required.

Furry Fridays Open House @ AKC Museum of the Dog, on Fri, 3 Jul, 11:00–18:00
Leashed, well-socialized dogs join their owners exploring the museum's canine art and historical exhibits — a full day of gallery hours rather than a single reserved slot. Time slots must be reserved in advance; included with admission.
Saturday July 4th

The Sandlot Outdoor Wooftop Movie @ Rooftop Cinema Club, on Sat, 4 Jul, 11:00–13:00
A rooftop screening of The Sandlot with leashed dogs welcome on deck chairs — tickets come with themed bandanas and tennis balls. Doors open early at 10:30, so there's time to settle in before the movie starts.

July 4th Celebration @ Stone Street, on Sat, 4 Jul, 16:00–23:30
An Independence Day street festival on Lower Manhattan's cobblestone strip — outdoor bars, live energy, and one of the city's most historic blocks turned into an all-day holiday hangout. A solid early-evening stop before heading home for the night.

World Cup @ Le Doggie Café, on Sat, 4 Jul, 12:00–20:00
A 98-inch screen for World Cup viewing in a fully enclosed Williamsburg space — frozen drinks for you, doggy popsicles for your dog, BYOB. A cooler, calmer alternative to the holiday crowds outside.

Weekend Brunch @ Château Le Woof, on Sat, 4 Jul & Sun, 5 Jul, 10:00–15:00
A fully indoor dog café in Astoria with off-leash play, a full brunch menu, and a dedicated dog menu — the indoor format makes it the better call when July 4th heat and crowds get to be too much.

Manhattan Mobile Adoption Event @ The Pet Market, on Sun, 5 Jul, 12:00–16:00
NYC ACC brings a mobile adoption pop-up to the Upper West Side — same-day adoptions for pre-approved applicants, with counselors on site to help. A holiday weekend that could end with someone new coming home.
Sunday July 5th

Puppy Paddle @ Urban Paddle, on Sun, 5 Jul, 11:00–12:30
A paddleboarding session across the river in Jersey City built around dogs — pups paddle free, with dogs over 30 pounds requiring a second adult on hand. A different way to spend a Sunday morning than the usual brunch loop.

Smorgasburg @ Prospect Park, on Sun, 5 Jul, 11:00–18:00
NYC's largest weekly food market — 100+ vendors and a full outdoor bar, with dogs officially welcome (unlike the Saturday Williamsburg location). Post-holiday Sunday tends to move slower and feel easier than usual.
Monday July 6th

Yoga @ Crocheron Park, on Mon, 6 Jul, 18:15–19:15
Free instructor-led outdoor yoga on the lawns of Bayside's Crocheron Park — leashed, well-behaved dogs welcome to settle in beside the mats. A quiet way to close out a Monday.

Monday Morning Pitch In to Pick Up @ Starlight Park, on Mon, 6 Jul, 09:00–11:00
A volunteer cleanup with the Bronx River Alliance — clearing litter and maintaining green infrastructure along the river, with leashed, well-behaved dogs encouraged to tag along. A different kind of morning walk, with something to show for it.
Tuesday July 7th

Bark in the Park @ Maimonides Park, on Tue, 7 Jul, 18:30–22:00
The Brooklyn Cyclones take on the Wilmington Blue Rocks with dedicated dog seating in Sections 20, 22, and 24, plus a pre-game pup parade 45 minutes before first pitch. Up to two dogs per ticket.

Cellar Dog Billiards Tournament @ Cellar Dog, on Tue, 7 Jul, 18:30–20:30
A competitive billiards tournament inside the West Village's 9,000 sq ft underground rec parlor — complimentary Six Point draft beer for contestants and a swag bag for whoever takes the title. Well-behaved dogs welcome at the table.

Puppy Manners & Training (Part 1) @ Dog Spa, on Tue, 7 Jul, 17:45–18:45
The first session of a four-week positive-reinforcement training course in a sanitized Chelsea facility — the kind of structured foundation that pays off well past week one. Runs weekly through July 28.
